The Chaika Hotel is architecturally quite stunning. The hotel was used in Soviet times as a hotel for cosmonauts to stay before and after their spaceflights. The main building in the hotel facility is built to look like a spaceship, The Chaika is a 10 minute walk from the centre of Karaganda and is very conveniently situated. Whilst the Chaika Hotel has a few years on the clock, and is a little faded, it is unique andstill has the a certain charm and gravitas - and for fans of the Soviet Space Era its a must
